Two: The love song….

The love song: it’s the bread and butter of the music world. Look at any billboard chart on any giving week and there’s a very good chance there will be at least one (or more) songs featuring the theme of ‘love.’ That’s where I’ll begin this journey into the blog world.

Man, do I love a good love song. I prefer mine more on the tortured lover side. Got burned by and ex? Found out the ‘love of your life’ is a cheating scumbag? Sign me up. The sadder the better in most cases. I’m a true believer in having a good cry every now and than and a sappy ass love song can help the healing process right along. I’m the sort gal who more often than not DOESN’T believe in happy endings and that’s how I like my love songs. There are rarely happy endings in real life so why shouldn’t it be the same way with music? Most of the time we’re all too chicken to even speak of our feelings alou,d so why not have a song do it for you? Lloyd Dobler had it right when he held that boombox over his head in Say Anything.

The mix:

1. Corinne Bailey Rae- “Like a Star”

All this couple seems to do it argue, but she kind likes it too. Because you really only argue with the on you love most. Passion and what not.

2. Kate Nash – “Nicest Thing”

Nothing worse than loving on someone who’s not loving back on you.

Favorite lyric: “I wish I was your favorite girl, I wish you thought I was in the reason you were in the world.” And “I wish you couldn’t figure me out but you’d always want to know what I was about”

3. Hope – “Who am I to Say”

Because sometimes it feels like you’ve found your ‘soul mate’ and they up and leave. Let yourself morn, eat some ice cream and use a whole box of tissues, all while listening to this song on repeat.

Favorite lyric: “Don't know why I'm still waiting, Many moons have come and gone, Don't know why I'm still searching

4. Stars – “You’re Ex-lover is Dead”

There really isn’t anything better than running into an ex at a party and acting like you haven’t seen then naked as a baby. Brownie points if you don’t spend the night in the bathroom crying with a nice big bottle of booze.

Favorite lyric: “I chose to feel it and you couldn't choose” and “I'm not sorry I met you
I'm not sorry it's over, I'm not sorry there's nothing to save”

5. Snow Patrol – “You Could Be Happy

This dude is trying to be the bigger man and end things now. He’s know the relationship wasn’t idea, but of course he’s still a bit broken up about it. But hey, he still cares enough to wish her the best. I almost believe him

Favorite lyrics: “all the things that I wished I had not said, Are played in loops 'till it's madness in my head

6. Missy Higgins – “Where I Stood”

Another send off/break up song. I like this one because she just comes right and say that hoe over there will love you more than I can. I also like the fact that she wants to find out who she is outside of their relationship. Far too many people either settle in a relationship because they’re too scared to be alone. But that say, “You have to love yourself before anyone else can” is so very true!

Favorite lyric: “little voices whispering, That I should go and this should end, Oh and I found myself listening” and the chores “Cos I don’t know who I am, who I am without you, All I know is that I should, And I don't know if I could stand another hand upon you, All I know is that I should, 'Cos she will love you more than I could, She who dares to stand where I stood

one.

welcome!

so this is my blog...blah blah blah. let skip all the b.s. if you've stumbled upon this little space of the internet world you probably already know me or you came for the music.

Music

That’s what its really all about. Music is a huge part of my life, like a significant other. Always has been and always will be. There’s something very universal about music. Everyone can relate to it not matter their, race, gender or sexuality. It’s crazy how a song can transport you back to a time or place. There really isn’t a non cheesy way for me to describe my love for music. All the silly clichés fit perfectly, but that enough about me

There’s nothing I love more than sharing music with other people. But making ‘mix-tapes’ for friends has always a long drawn out process for me. There are just too many variables to consider that I find myself spending hours on something that’s not longer than 30 minutes. Hence how we got to this point. Every week (or many more, depending on my mood) all post a couple songs that are rocking my world at that moment. 3 songs a week is my goal, but with the way I listen to music I know I’ll have 10 more I’ll just want to share. That’s just how I am.
